METHUEN — Chief Scott J. McNamara reports that there is no ongoing danger to the community after Methuen Police officers responded early Saturday morning to a report of a disturbance that resulted in a large police presence.
At approximately 4 a.m., Methuen Police responded to a residence on Brown Street for a report of a disturbance. The area was immediately secured and, due to the nature of the incident, mutual aid was requested from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT team.
One individual fled on foot when police arrived and was captured following a brief pursuit. That individual is currently in police custody at an area hospital.
A second individual also was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.
There is no ongoing danger to the community, however residents may see a police presence in the area for the next several hours.
The incident remains under investigation. No further information is being released at this time.
