Scam Alert!!
We have received information from several residents regarding a possible scam involving a “Golden Social Security card with a Chip.”
The resident received a phone call from a person with a foreign accent. The scammer on the other end of the line told the resident they were eligible for a new “Golden Social Security card with a Chip.” In order to receive this “new” card, the scammer asked the resident for their Medicare number and other personal information.
Luckily, our residents were savvy enough to not take the bait and hang up the phone.
This is a friendly reminder that you should be very careful not to give out your personal information (such as social security, bank account, or any other information) unsolicited on the phone.
Please share this information with your family and friends and if you or a friend or family member are a victim of one of these scams, please call dispatch at 978-983-8698.
