Mayor James P. Jajuga and Chief Joseph Solomon report that Methuen Police Department responded to serious motor vehicle crash late Friday evening.
At 9:47 p.m., Methuen Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the area of 625 Lowell Street for a report of a serious motor vehicle crash involving several vehicles.
Upon arrival, first responders provided aid to the drivers and passengers involved in the crash and officers initiated an on-scene investigation.
The initial investigation indicates that a 2006 GMC Envoy with 2 occupants was traveling westbound on Lowell Street, approaching the area of 625 Lowell Street. Simultaneously, a 2009 Acura TL was traveling eastbound, approaching the area 625 Lowell. For unknown reason(s) as the vehicles approached each other, they collided head-on. A third vehicle, a 2019 Honda HRV was also traveling westbound and subsequently received minor damage as a result of the fallout from the crash.
The operator of the Acura, a 20-year-old male was transported to the Lawrence General Hospital with serious injuries and is listed in stable condition.
The passenger of the Acura a 21-year-old male was airlifted to the Boston Medical Center for serious life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition.
The Operator of the GMC, a 32 year old male and his ten-year-old daughter received minor injuries and were not transported.
The Occupants of the Honda HRV were not injured or transported.
Methuen Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section are jointly investigating the crash.
