METHUEN — Mayor James P. Jajuga and Chief Joseph Solomon are pleased to announce that members of the Methuen Police Department received commendations from the Methuen Senior Center as well as the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
On Thursday, May 9 2019, officers attended the Methuen Senior Activity Center Festival for their 35th Anniversary Celebration. At the celebration, the Methuen Police Department was presented an award by Methuen Senior Center Executive Director Corinne LaCharite. The Methuen Police Department also received a commendation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives in recognition of their longstanding contributions to improve the lives of Methuen’s older Americans.
The Methuen Police Department has been actively involved with the Senior Center since its inception and participates in several events at the center such as the TRIAD Program, Senior Supper and Fraud/Scam Seminars. The Police Department has also hosted CPR/AED and Self Defense Classes and conducts Senior Police Academies at the Police Department where seniors get to explore all the avenues of police work. Recently, members of the Police Department took part in the annual “Us vs. Them” 45’s tournament held at the Senior Center where officers were able to interact with the seniors, furthering their community policing initiative.
“Words cannot fully convey our gratitude for our partnership and continued efforts to work together to keep our seniors sound and safe.” Corinne LaCharite said. “Thank you Chief Joseph Solomon, Sergeant Joe Rynne and the entire Methuen Police Department!”
