In May, 2018, the City received a DHCD Massachusetts Downtown Initiative Grant to assist the City in the development of a parking management strategy for the downtown and newly created Methuen Center Smart Growth Overlay District. The City’s consultant, Stantec, with the assistance of the Department of Economic & Community Development (DECD) Staff has conducted a field evaluation of downtown Methuen to evaluate overall parking conditions and access between parking and destinations in the downtown. They have developed an electronic inventory of on and off street, public and private parking within the downtown study area.
Stantec and DECD will be holding a parking open house on Thursday October 18, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm in the Garden Room at the Nevins Memorial Library. This will be an informal opportunity for merchants, residents, business owners, and other concerned citizens to stop in anytime to view parking maps and data, provide feedback, and input on the strengths and weaknesses of Methuen’s parking system. Please try to attend this open house to provide us with your thoughts regarding parking in the downtown.
