Although yesterday was #NationalPancakeDay for most of the social media world, several members of the Methuen Police Department and the Methuen Fire Department participated in the MR8 Burger Challenge at Fuddruckers in Methuen.
Sgt. John Delano and Officer Patrick Waldron faced off against Firefighters Anthony Coco and Dave Luciano in the challenge which consisted of eating a 3 pound burger with 1 pound of French fries. Of course, it is important to mention that purpose of this challenge was to raise funds and raise awareness for the MR8 foundation (Martin Richard Foundation). The competition was to finish the burger and fries in one hour. MPD and MFD always look for ways to support the community and foster the friendly relationship between the two departments.
As we expected, Sgt. Delano (previous winner of the Margarita’s Taco Eating Contest) completed the task with time to spare. Only one other person has been able to complete the challenge in the last 2 years. Sgt. Delano finished the challenge in record time, beating the previous winner of the contest by 3 minutes!! Officer Waldron came in second place, followed by Firefighter Luciano and Firefighter Coco……but who’s counting……
Thank you to all the family members, friends and fellow brothers and sisters of MFD who came out to cheer and support both teams and a fantastic cause. Also, thanks to Fuddruckers in Methuen for hosting the event.
