*Media Advisory* Methuen Police Department to Drop-off Donations from Toy Drive
METHUEN – Mayor Stephen N. Zanni and Chief Joseph Solomon are pleased to announce that Methuen police officers will be delivering gifts to Debbie’s Treasure Chest this weekend as part of their annual toy drive.
WHEN
Saturday, Dec. 16 at 1 p.m.
WHERE
Debbie’s Treasure Chest warehouse, 15 Union St., Suite 411, Lawrence
WHAT
The Methuen Police Department is collecting toys during its fourth annual toy drive to benefit Debbie’s Treasure Chest, owned and operated by Harvey Girls, Inc., a nonprofit 503(c)(3) organization. All toys will be delivered on Saturday, and each child in the program will receive a toy.
“Giving trees,” decorated with star-shaped tags, each holding one child’s wish for a toy, were set up at the Methuen Police Department, Methuen City Hall, Lawrence District Court, the Studio of Dance Arts, American Dental Partners, National Fiber Technologies and Methuen High School. Members from each organization selected a tag, purchased the gift requested and returned the unwrapped toy to the giving tree.
This year, the police department is hoping to exceed the number of toys they collected last year — approximately 600 — which were donated to children in Methuen and across the Merrimack Valley.
“I am so proud to see the police department organize this event each year to help the community come together and help those in need have a happy holiday,” Mayor Zanni said. “We always have a wonderful turnout for this toy drive and I have no doubt this will be another successful year.”
Residents who wish to participate in the toy drive can drop off new, unwrapped toys to the following locations through Dec. 23:
Methuen Police Department – 90 Hampshire St.
Methuen Senior Center – 77 Lowell St.
Enterprise Bank – Methuen and Andover Branches
Renaissance Salon – 184 Pleasant Valley St. Unit #2, Methuen
Monte Carlo Salon – 369 Merrimack St., Methuen
Studio of Dance Arts – 170 Haverhill St., Methuen
Century 21 McLennan & Co. – 188 Broadway, Methuen
Citizens Bank – 90 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen
Toys collected from the public will be given to children in need in the Merrimack Valley.
“We enjoy coordinating this event every year and are always humbled at how all of these different departments, organizations and businesses can come together for such a wonderful cause,” Chief Solomon said. “Thank you to all who have already donated or are planning to participate. We are expecting another outstanding turnout this holiday season.”
