During this time of the year, when children are back and school and the adults are at work, many of our homes are empty during the day; which makes our homes vulnerable to breaks.
Over the past week, in the West end of the city we have has three breaks into residents between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:00 am. These breaks have occurred through unlocked doors or opened windows.
As a reminder when not home or when in bed for the night you should lock you doors and close first floor windows. If your home is equipped with an alarm it should be activated when not at home or when in bed for the night.
The Methuen Police have prepared this brochure with tips to make your home safer and less of a target by potential burglars. https://www.ci.methuen.ma.us/Documents/Police/BURGLARY2010.pdf
