Share The Light with Chief Solomon and
Rabbi Bronstein at Methuen’s Menorah Lighting
Methuen – Mayor Stephen N. Zanni and Chief Solomon are honored to announce that he will be joining Rabbi Asher Bronstein of the Chabad of the Merrimack Valley in a Menorah lighting on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 5:30pm. This event will take place, outside, at the Nevins Memorial Library, 305 Broadway, Methuen, Ma.
Chief Solomon and Rabbi Bronstein invite all men, women and children of all religions to join in the Miracle of Hanukkah.
The history of Hanukkah began 2200 years ago in the time of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and signifies the rededication of that Temple after it was contaminated and damaged during the Holy War. The lighting of the Menorah and the Hanukkah Miracle are important symbols of Jewish history. After victory over the Greek oppressors in the Holy war, the Jewish returned to their temple to clean, rebuild and restore it. The menorah had been damaged and oil used to light it had been contaminated. The Jews repaired the menorah and were able to salvage one cruse of untainted oil, enough to light the menorah for one night, but by miracle, the oil kept the menorah lit for 8 nights, leaving them enough time to find a fresh supply, hence the Miracle of Hanukkah.
Rabbi Bronstein invites all to attend to publicly witness the Miracle of Hanukkah and to realize that miracles happen to us every day. In a phone interview he states, “Each day we light a new candle and share the light with others. It is a great honor to have a menorah across the street from the police station and to work with Chief Solomon on this event.” Rabbi Bronstein encourages all to help share the light by doing a good deed and being good people.
“I am honored to be able to work with Rabbi Bronstein in the lighting of the menorah this year,” Chief Solomon said, “It’s important to me and to our community that we come together to promote kindness, good deeds and sharing the light with others.”
