Methuen Police Investigating After Swastikas Found Spray Painted in Multiple Locations
METHUEN — Chief Joseph Solomon reports that the Methuen Police Department is investigating after swastikas were found spray painted in multiple locations today.
Methuen Police received several reports of vandalism Sunday, and responding officers observed that swastikas had been spray painted on the sides of multiple vehicles and on a property sign. Another vehicle was vandalized with a vulgar word.
“No matter the intent, swastika imagery represents hatred and bigotry and there is no place for that in our community,” Chief Solomon said. “We are thoroughly investigating and working with the community to identify who is responsible so that they can be held accountable.”
Vehicles were vandalized on Temple Drive, Bridle Path and Deborah Avenue, while a sign was vandalized at the intersection of West Street and Varnai and a fence was damaged on Sevoian Drive.
Methuen Police ask that anyone who believes they may have seen something suspicious in those areas, or who may have surveillance footage that could help identify a suspect is asked to call 978-983-8698.
