On 10/05/12 at approximately 9:30 am, the Methuen Police Department Detective Division arrested Joseph M. Palermo D.O.B. 06/14/47 address Rt. 28 Manor Hotel, Windham NH. Mr. Palermo. The arrest was a result of an investigation led by Detective Richard Pilz and assisted by Detectives John Delano, Detective Charles Dejesus, and Detective Tom McMenamon amongst others. The investigation quickly turned into a unified multi jurisdictional collaborative effort to affect the arrest of a subject who was utilizing various forms of deceit to obtain monetary gains from his victims.
The initial incident occurred on 09/28/12 when Mr. Palermo obtained and cashed a check for $605 dollars from the owner of the restaurant under the guise and false pretense that he, Mr. Palermo, would provide tickets, for premium seats to a specific Boston Celtics game in January. No tickets were provided. A phone call was made to the Boston Celtics ticket office who advised us that Mr. Palermo did not and could not obtain said tickets.
Further investigation revealed that Mr. Palermo had an extremely lengthy history pertaining to deceptive and illegal activity and had four active warrants for his arrest. The warrants were for the following.
1. Palmer District Court- 2 counts of Intimidation of a Witness- 1 count of Larceny over $250- 1 count of Larceny over $250 by False Pretenses.
2. Newburyport District Court-1 count Taking a Number Plate- 1 count of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.
3. Barnstable District Court-1 count of Larceny over $250 by False Pretenses.
4. Falmouth District Court- 2 counts of Larceny over $250.
Mr. Palermo will face additional charges, filed by the Methuen Police Department for Larceny over $250 and Larceny over $250 by False Pretenses. He was booked at the Methuen Police Department and arraigned in Lawrence District Court. He is currently being held on $10,000 cash bail.
